VideoOfficials are digging up the ground at the former Manson ranch in search of more possible victims.
The digging is underway in Death Valley California. Some forty years after convicted killer Charles Manson went on a killing spree, local officials are hoping to find out if there are more bodies buried at the Barker Ranch.
Lt. Jim Jones of the Inyou County Sheriff's County Department, said: "There's five sites that we have mapped, depending on once we get the first one started and how far we have to go, to dig, we hope to do all five sites by the end of the week."
Rumors of the buried bodies have persisted since Manson and his followers hid there after murdering seven people, including actress Sharon Tate.
Carman Roper of the Inyou County's Sheriff's Department, said: "With some of the members being alive and the victims sister being alive, there's a vested interest and an emotional interest in finding out what is out there."
The decision to dig was made in February when a police sergeant took his dog to to the ranch to see what the specially trained cadaver canine would find.
The dig is expected to last several days.
