Ten people died and four others were injured when a small plane crashed in eastern Guatemala on Sunday, said local officials.

"We do not know the identity of the 10 passengers who died," Carlos Salazar, an emergency worker spokesman told Reuters. He said investigators had not yet determined the cause of the crash.

Two people were in critical condition and were being airlifted to the hospital, he said.

The plane, owned by a small tourist airline, caught on fire on impact in the eastern part of the country, according to local media reports.
