Britons blew up a large Sarah Palin effigy into pieces with explosive, accompanied by a general sense of delight.

Britons are more prone to Barack Obama, it seems. At least this is the case with Bettle locals, who stuffed a giant effigy of Sarah Palin with explosive and blew her up into a thousand pieces, accompanied by a general sense of delight, CNN reports.

The explosion was a climax of the annual bonfire celebration, during which, traditionally, a public political figure is blown up. This year, it was Sarah Palin with a machinegun in her hand, a moose next to her and large made up lips.

Apart from the moose, she had Barack Obama with her in an army helmet, who was probably placed there for the citizens to display they were not politically biased.

The town`s administration said they did not wish to insult anyone, but they detonated Palin because they believed she is one of the most interesting characters of the US presidential run. According to the authorities, she is also the most exposed face of both campaigns and seemed to be the perfect candidate – to be blown up.

This bonfire festival, according to media, dates back to 1646. Previously, Tony Blair and Gordon Brown were blown up, former and current British Premier.

Despite powerful rain, it took seconds fro Palin to burn out and sparks fell on the wet English soil with applause.
