What the Bosnian Government Will Look Like

Text

HDZ 1990 president was nominated for transport and communications minister; HDZ BiH nominated Dragan Vrankic as finance minister.

The chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Nikola Spiric, has requested of parties in the country to submit their nominees for ministerial seats.

Ministry positions have been divided in a way so that the Serbs got two ministries and a chairman of the Council of Ministers, that is, a premier; the Bosniaks got four ministries and Croats three.

This is what the government of Bosnia-Herzegovina could look like:

The Party of Democratic Action (SDA) headed by Sulejman Tihic and the Party for Bosnia-Herzegovina run by Haris Silajdzic will share the Bosniak positions.

The SDA suggested Selam Cikotic as defence minister and Tarik Sadovic as security minister. The Party for BH proposed Sven Alakalaj, a former Bosnian Ambassador to NATO, as foreign minister, and Safet Halilovic, a former civil affairs minister, to be the new minister for refugees and human rights.

The Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) led by Milorad Dodik suggested Sredoje Novic as minister of civil affairs and Slobodan Puhalac as candidate for foreign trade and economic relations minister, the Bosnian Serb Nezavisne novine daily writes.

The Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina (HDZ BiH), headed by Dragan Covic, nominated Dragan Vrankic as finance and treasury minister, and Barisa Colak as justice minister. Vrankic was finance minister in the Bosnian Federation entity, while Colak was the entity’s security minister.

Bozo Ljubic, the president of the HDZ 1990, was nominated as transport and communications minister.
