Who Are Masons In BH

After 60 years, The BH Grand Lodge is formed again. Its members are kept secret, but the “Charshija” suspects who they might be.

After more than 60 years, the Masonic lodge has been formed in Bosnia-Herzegovina once again. It gathers esteemed professionals, enthusiasts, whether it be Bosniaks, Serbs, Croats, Jews or pople of other nationalities. They say they do not hide anything. But, they hide their names, therefore the only thing left to do is to guess who the Masons of this country are.

 “The BH Masonic Lodge connects people of high morale, honorable, decent, tolerant people, people of all nationalities and of all religions, people loyal to their homeland Bosnia-Herzegovina, whether they are Bosniaks, Serbs, Croats or Jews”, says the Master Mason of BH.

BH Masons on the Internet

Bosnia-Herzegovinian Freemasons, in order to communicate better with the public, made their own web-site: www.glbih.org, and published their e-mail: glbh160405@hotmail.com. Still, they did not answer to journalistic enquiry, although they criticised themselves being too closed-up to the pubic, on the web-site, because of which people got the wrong perception about what Freemasonry was and what Freemasons actually did.

According to the Constitution, the web-site authors wrote, Freemasonry in BH belongs to the system of the so called Symbolic Freemasonry and operates in three traditional symbolic degrees. The association is apolitical and discussions of politics and religion are strictly forbidden.

Who are Masons in BH

Due to their members` names being hidden and assumptions of their power in these types of associations, a certain mysticism is always created. Therefore, it can only be suspected who the Masons in BH are, and some of the names mentioned in the BH media are Adil Zulfikarpasic, the founder of the Bosniak institute, current politicians like Milorad Dodik, Haris Silajdzic and Dragan Covic, then Jakob Finci of the Jewish community, Mladen Ivanovic, the former Foreign Affairs Minister, then the Helsinki Committee of the Bosnian Serb entity of the Republika Srpska  President Branko Todorovic, directors of various companies, doctors, attorneys, professors, scientists…

Mason history in BH

Masons existed in BH as a part of the Grand Lodge of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. But, after the establishment of the Socialist Yugoslavia, due to “the political regime specificities”, they ended their work.

The Grand Lodge of Slovenia and the Grand lodge of Austria helped a couple of years ago to establish three Masonic Lodges in BH, but they were not independent and had the attribute “deputy Lodges”. These were “Lux Bosniae”, “Ivo Andric” and “Veritas”.

The Grand Lodge of BH was founded on the 14^th April 2005, when “the Grand Lodge of Austria brought the light into The Great Lodge of BH during the ritual work held in BH”.

The Grand Lodge of BH was recognised by Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro, Check Republic, Hungary and Rumania.
