Woman Charged With Murder of Son and Daughter

Sasikala Navaneethan, 36, was also charged with the attempted murder of a six-month old baby girl, who police have yet to name.

A woman has been charged with the murder of her five-year-old son and four-year-old daughter, police said on Friday.

Sasikala Navaneethan, 36, was also charged with the attempted murder of a six-month old baby girl, who police have yet to name.

Navaneethan was arrested in May after her two children -- her son Shanjayan and her daughter Sharani -- were stabbed to death and the baby seriously injured at the family's house in Carshalton, south London.

Navaneethan was then detained under the Mental Health Act, while her 40-year-old husband was also arrested before being released without charge.

The six-month old baby girl is now out of hospital.
