LENNON/MCCARTNEY - What is there to say about arguably the most popular team of writers of popular music of all times? When they were "little," they admired the Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly and they mostly wrote their songs in McCartney's house and in the home of Lennon's aunt Mimi. They often invited their friends over to listen to their latest songs. By working together, they kept an eye on each other and it was precisely the slightly competitive spirit that has often been cited as the reason why their songs were so successful. Controversies mostly started emerging after Lennon's death, when the almighty Yoko took matters into her own hands but, by 2005, McCartney decided that he was no longer interested in those issues. However, there is an interesting story about Mal Evans, who allegedly helped McCartney write the hit "Fixing a Hole." Parts of his journal even prove that McCartney promised him part of the rights to the song, but Evans did not see a penny before he died.
