Iraq appeals court lifts candidate ban

BAGHDAD (AP) -- An Iraqi appeals court Wednesday struck down a ban imposed on hundreds of candidates for suspected ties to Saddam Hussein's regime, possibly allowing them to run in next month's election, an official said.
