Link pensions to pay again - TUC

Union leaders have called on the government to mark the centenary of the first state pension payouts by restoring the link between pensions and earnings. The link was removed in 1980, and ministers have pledged to restore it in 2012, but union leaders say the change must come sooner. Pensions increase every April in line with the level of the retail prices index the previous September.
