There is a memorable moment in Alan Parker's 1991 film The Commitments, when Jimmy Rabbitte, the band's soul-loving manager, says to the others: "Do you not get it, lads? The Irish are the blacks of Europe. And Dubliners are the blacks of Ireland. And the Northside Dubliners are the blacks of Dublin."
