Israeli missiles hit Gaza Strip

The southern Gaza Strip has been struck by Israeli missiles.

Israel has launched a fresh attack on Gaza.

This crater shows where Israeli Army missiles struck in the southern town of Rafah.

The Israeli military says it was targeting tunnels on the border between Gaza and Egypt, after two rockets were fired from Gaza earlier in the day.

Palestinians use the tunnels to move goods into the sealed-off territory, but Israel says arms and ammunition are also smuggled in.

Palestinian sources say the latest attack left nine people injured.

Beyond the separation wall, Israeli forces step up security ahead of Friday prayers.

In the West Bank, all Palestinians under the age of 40 were stopped from entering Jerusalem's Old City.

They'd wanted to attend prayers at al-Aqsa mosque, Islam's third holiest site.

Egypt continues to try and broker an effective ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, who rule the Gaza Strip.

Israel's recent offensive in Gaza killed 1300 Palestinians, most of them civilians, while 13 Israeli soldiers also died.
