David Kellermann, acting chief financial officer of mortgage giant Freddie Mac, was found dead in his suburban Virginia home after apparently committing suicide.
STORY:
The acting chief financial officer of mortgage giant Freddie Mac was found dead in his suburban Virginia home, and according to local police it was an apparent suicide.
41-year-old David Kellermann had worked with Freddie Mac for more than 16 years and was named acting CFO --- responsible for the company's financial controls -- in September.
The federal government intervened last year to take over Freddie Mac as mounting losses on housing investments weakened their balance sheets - playing a role in the U.S. housing and global credit crisis.
Local media reported that Kellermann's wife called in an apparent suicide, but did not elaborate on the cause of death. The incident remains under investigation.
