A wildfire destroys dozens of homes and thousands of acres near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina -- a resort town in the Southeastern United States.

A wildfire is painting the sky orange -- and is dangerously close to the the Southeastern resort town of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
The fire -- which started Wednesday -- has already claimed more than 30 homes and charred around seven thousand acres -- according to NBC News.
So far no injuries have been reported, and officials say more than 100 firefighters have been called in to battle the blaze.
Mayor Marilyn Hatley of North Myrtle Beach says damage to structures in the area is sporadic.
SOUNDBITE (English) MAYOR MARILYN HATLEY OF NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SAYING:
"It's a situation to where there may be three houses destroyed, one or two damaged and then some of the other houses may not be damaged at all."
Officials say more than one thousand people have been evacuated to local shelters.
