Belly Dancing For Pregnant Women

Oriental dancing improves body posture and keeps the body fit, which will prevent excessive pounds pilling up.

Oriental or belly dancing does not require a lot of hopping about. It is gentle and graceful, thus ideal for pregnant women.

Dancing helps relax pelvic muscles and pregnant women become aware of their pelvises while dancing and this is something that will help them at birth. Also, the moves dancers do sooth the baby and just like any exercise, this sort of dancing helps give the baby more oxygen.

Furthermore, belly dancing improves body posture and keeps the body fit, which will prevent excessive pounds pilling up. A large number of moves that are performed alleviate back pain, improving balance and co-ordination.

Pregnant women, however, are advised to advise their doctor before starting any sort of exercises, to follow their heart rate and keep their pulse below 140 beats per minute. Every form of exercise, belly dancing included, should be started with a warm up firm and finished with light stretching. If you want to learn a few moves, watch the presentation for pregnant women at Zagreb`s Mothers, Babies and Pregnant Women`s fair, presented by Ksenija Kapec. Note that the video is in Croatian.
