Obama met with Canadian Governor General Michaelle Jean at the Ottawa International Airport.

Obama is hoping to quell Canadian concerns about U.S. protectionism with the United States' biggest trading partner and energy supplier.

When Obama later meets with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, the two are also expected to discuss the global economic crisis and the war in Afghanistan.
